Please think twice before using this company as a "Care Provider" for a loved one. My son was a "supported living" care user with this company and has recently moved from them following a catalogue of abuse, that being financially, mentally and physically. He was left bruised after a staff member "wrestled" a phone from him, (that member is still in their employment) on another occasion he had his fingers jammed in a door, his shower was left running for 3 hours+ by staff on management say so to "prompt" my son to use the shower. My son was even videoed on request of management even though he has no mental capacity to agree to this and family certainly were not aware or consulted on this matter.
Due to excessive use of the shower my son's electricity bill increased 3 fold from a monthly payment of £56 to £149, obviously the water charged greatly increased too.
We turned up for an impromptu visit to discover at 2.30 in the afternoon the member of staff fast asleep and my son left to his own devices, given that my son requires 24/7 support the consequences of accident or injury to my son were great.
Staff with only 3 hours shadowing were left to support my son (a complex and vulnerable young man).
There were some good support staff but these were far out weighed by others who were at best inexperienced, unmotivated and poorly managed. Those who were good support staff quickly left to join other companies and with good reason.
Care plans were not updated even when my son moved house and family requests to have experienced, competent, confident support staff were totally ignored.
We have raised many safeguardings with Social Services, have twice contacted CQC and have log numbers after contacting the police due to several of my son's personal possessions disappearing. All of these incidents can be verified and were all documented by Social Services, CQC and the police.
Recommendations from the safeguarding Social Worker were totally ignored by the company leaving my son to suffer.
We as a family were treated as an inconvenience and because we dared to question and challenge the management we were vilified.
Companies are paid vast amounts for Care Packages but sadly they seem to put profit before delivery of care.
My son has left this so called "Care Provider" a broken young man. It is so sad and distressing to think we placed our trust and worse still placed our son in this company's care.
Please research prospective Care Providers with a fine tooth comb and where possible seek out and talk to as many families as you can as they will direct you to their Provider of choice.
